Soil samples for e environmental analysis  are collected by the Direct Push system consisting of inserting rods and metal linings fitted with internal acrylic liners. The system is driven by a hydraulic hammer coupled to a device on a GEOPROBE track mounted equipment.

The samples are collected continuously or at predetermined depths, according to the regulatory guidelines set by ASTM D6282-98 Standard Guide for Direct Push Soil Sampling for Environmental Site Characterizations.

During the sampling process, the equipment is decontaminated (according to CETESB guidelines) with non-phosphate soap and deionized water.
